Brethren Disaster Ministries
Brethren Disaster Ministries Rebuilding engages a network of volunteers to repair or rebuild damaged homes for disaster survivors who cannot recover on their own. We encourage participation by those within and outside of our congregation.

Children's Disaster Services
Since 1980 Children’s Disaster Services (CDS), a program of Brethren Disaster Ministries, has been meeting the needs of children by setting up child care centers in shelters and disaster assistance centers across the nation. Specially trained to respond to traumatized children, volunteers provide a calm, safe and reassuring presence in the midst of the chaos created by tornadoes, floods, hurricanes, wildfires, and any natural or human-caused disaster.
Brethren Retirement Community
Join us in making a difference at the Brethren Retirement Center! We host a variety of engaging activities for the residents. These include a fun-filled Bingo Party and a joyful Spring Sing Caroling event where we sing beloved hymns. Our Fair Day features games with prizes, live music, special snacks, and the chance to interact with adorable animals. Throughout the year, volunteers can also provide valuable support by escorting residents to their appointments and activities. Your involvement can truly brighten their days!

Michael's Resource and Treatment Center
MRTC provides residential support for at-risk male juveniles ranging from 10-18 years. We enjoy supporting these teens throughout the year by sponsoring events. Our Summer Barbecue includes a picnic meal and fun outdoor games. Christmas is celebrated with a Pizza and Bingo Party where the teens receive individualized gifts. The Oakland Church participants have described experiencing much joy as they interact with these special teens.
Annual Garage Sale
The proceeds from the annual Garage Sale help fund the Brethren Disaster Ministries program. All of the items are donated by members of the congregation and are available to shoppers in our community. There are many opportunities to volunteer in preparation for this event. Please join us!
