Over the past few months, the outreach team has met to discern Oakland’s Outreach Ministry. The team’s initial goal was to create Oakland’s Outreach Mission Statement and through wonderful input from all team members, we are pleased to share the fruit of the team’s discernment with the Oakland congregation. Oakland’s Outreach Ministry mission statement is… “Through the love of Jesus, we will strive to empower and equip the Oakland family to go out and joyfully serve those in need.”
The team’s next step is to establish specific goals and objectives to fulfill the mission statement. Therefore, we encourage anyone who has an outreach idea that they are excited about to please contact me and I will present it to the outreach team.

SERVE… Darke County – Spend a Morning Make a Difference
SERVE Darke County is an event where participants raise pledges to benefit an excellent cause and then spend a morning performing community service projects that will make Darke County a better place for all of us to live.
There will be an information / registration table Sunday, September 13 and 20 in the Fellowship Hall. There are two ways you can help!
- Sign up to help at one of the work sites on October 3rd.
- Sponsor someone else to work at one of the work sites on October 3rd.
A flyer will be handed out to the congregation in the coming weeks with specific
projects. Some projects already establish by specific towns are:
- Ansonia – Paint trash cans for the village and touch up welcome signs
& posts
- Bradford – Painting fence around the tennis court in the village park.
- Gettysburg – TBA
- Greenville – Painting equipment in the skate park (located in the city
park)

Greenville Crop Walk
Sign up to walk or sponsor a walker. There will be a registration table September 27 and October 4, 2009 for you get to get registration material and/or sponsor a walker. This event is to help fund Church World Service by collecting money for food to help overcome poverty. 25% of the funds collected stay in the local chapter and help food pantries. CROP is an acronym for “Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty.
