District Conference delegates approved a committee to conduct a series of listening and discernment sessions in order to get a better picture of the vision people in the district have for the on-going ministries of Woodland Altars and Outdoor Ministries. The Faithful Servants Sunday School Class will be participating in the Darke County Trash Bash 2012 Countywide Roadside Clean-up on Saturday, April 21 from 9:00 a.m. to approximately 12:00 p.m. and will return to the church for pizza. All are welcome to join us but must first sign a Release Form and provide T Shirt size by Sunday, March 4. Please sign up at the Hospitality Center and see Pam Pohlman to complete the necessary form. The cast is busy rehearsing with director, John Dillon. While many others are working with producer, Betty Byrd and planning with Vonnie Jones for Oakland’s production of SMOKE ON THE MOUNTAIN HOMECOMING to be held March 2,3,9,&10 at 6pm, buffet and play, cost is $22.00 and March 4 at 2pm, play with dessert, cost is $12.00. Call Brenda Coblentz at 937-548-1895 between 4-8pm for reservations. Many hands will be needed in various areas of the production and dinner preparation,please be thinking in which way you would like to help serve. Those who attend and those who receive financial support through outreach projects will be blessed by your service. Many will remember the folksy charm of the Sanders Family as they entertained past Oakland audiences with storytelling and song. Now join the family as they send Reverend Mervin and June Oglethorpe off to Texas to a new calling, with hilarious and touching stories and 25 fabulous Bluegrass Gospel favorites. See you there! The Spring Bake Sale at the Brethren Retirement Community will be Saturday, March 17, in the Brick Room from 9:00 to2:00. Please consider making and donating a few homemade items as pies,noodles, cookies, rolls, candy, small loaves of bread. Come out and support the BRC bake sale. Stay, look around at the facility, or visit an Oaklander there. All profits will be used for items beneficial to residents.
