Listening Sessions for Woodland Altars and Outdoor Ministries
District Conference delegates approved a committee to conduct a series of listening and discernment sessions in order to get a better picture of the vision people in the district have for the on-going ministries of Woodland Altars and Outdoor Ministries.  The first set of listening sessions are set for: 

• Sunday, January 8, Happy Corner Church of the BrethrenSunday,
• January 22, Troy Church of the BrethrenSunday,
• February 12, Oakland Church of the BrethrenSunday,
• February 26,  location yet to be determined.

The times for each of these meetings is 2:00 to 4:00 pm. These meetings are open to anyone whether you have been an attendee at any event at Woodland Altars or not. Your attendance at one of these meetings will be very helpful in shaping the future direction of Woodland Altars and Outdoor Ministries. Please help spread the word about these important gatherings as part of our discernment process.

Register now for camp discount
Just a reminder for those planning to attend camp at Woodland Altars this summer. The Early Bird registration discount ends February 28th.  Oakland will pay ½ up to $150.00 of the camp cost.

Volunteers needed!
Dinner Theater volunteers are needed.  Please sign up on the volunteer sign up sheets.  There are many capacities to help with.  The sheets are located in the fellowship hall.  It’s always a great time of fellowship.  Join us!

Darke County Trash Bash
The Faithful Servants Sunday School Class will be participating in the Darke County Trash Bash 2012 Countywide Roadside Clean-up on Saturday, April 21 from 9:00 a.m. to approximately 12:00 p.m. and will return to the church for pizza.  All are welcome to join us but must first sign a Release Form and provide T Shirt size by Sunday, March 4.  Please sign up at the Hospitality Center and see Pam Pohlman to complete the necessary form.

Preparations Underway for Oakland’s Dinner Theater
The cast is busy rehearsing with director, John Dillon. While many others are working with producer, Betty Byrd and planning with Vonnie Jones for Oakland’s production of SMOKE ON THE MOUNTAIN HOMECOMING to be held March 2,3,9,&10 at 6pm, buffet and play, cost is $22.00 and March 4 at 2pm, play with dessert, cost is $12.00. Call Brenda Coblentz at 937-548-1895 between 4-8pm for reservations.

Many hands will be needed in various areas of the production and dinner preparation,please be thinking in which way you would like to help serve. Those who attend and those who receive financial support through outreach projects will be blessed by your service.

Many will remember the folksy charm of the Sanders Family as they entertained past Oakland audiences with storytelling and song. Now join the family as they send Reverend Mervin and June Oglethorpe off to Texas to a new calling, with hilarious and touching stories and 25 fabulous Bluegrass Gospel favorites. See you there!

BRC Bake Sale
The Spring Bake Sale at the Brethren Retirement Community will be Saturday, March 17, in the Brick Room from 9:00 to2:00. Please consider making and donating a few homemade items as pies,noodles, cookies, rolls, candy, small loaves of bread.  Come out and support the BRC bake sale.  Stay, look around at the facility, or visit an Oaklander there.  All profits will be used for items beneficial to residents.  For questions or for someone to pick up your baked goods, please call Esther Clark, 447-2351;  Ione Thompson, 316-6240; or Betsy Nisonger, 526-4844.  Your support will be very much appreciated.
