7:00-9:00 p.m. Financial Peace UniversityNext Sunday, August 17, Pastor Pete will bring the lesson “Stay Cool in the Heat” taken from Acts 4:1-13 [John 4:13-14]. Some days get hot. Stay cool in the heat. As we start something new, there are always challenges and sometimes frustrations—friction that comes with change. When things heat up, drink from the well of Living Water, empowered by the Holy Spirit and all His fruit.
What a miraculous week that this has been! Jesus gives us the power to do so many things. Aha! Thank you isn’t nearly enough to express my gratitude to everyone who was a part of VBS 2008. You truly are the hands and feet of Jesus and I praise God that the hearts and lives of so many children were touched because of all you do. It was a blast! Thanks for making Lab so Fab!The “Piece-Makers” quilters are in need of solid color cotton fabric. Place your donation in the box provided at the hospitality center.
The Oakland congregation is invited to a reunion picnic at our mother church, Harris Creek Church of the Brethren, August 24th, following worship at 12:15 p.m. Bring a covered dish. Joseph Helfrich will be providing entertainment after the meal. RSVP to Bob Bitner (547-3360) by August 17th if you plan to attend.
There is an all church Talent Night scheduled on Thursday, August 21st, from 8-10 p.m. at the Darke County Fair Spiritual Life Center. There are forms available in the church office for those interested in participating.
The Joyful Disciples Sunday School Class still have the Ultimate Cloths for sale. Contact class members or Marjorie Darding or Esther Clark.
Plan to attend to the second annual Disaster Ministries Ice Cream Social August 23 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Happy Corner Church of the Brethren. There will be great food (sandwiches, chicken and noodles, salads, baked beans and of course pie and cookies), great gospel music (including our own Grateful Four quartet) and Home Made Ice Cream! This is a fund raiser to help pay the expenses of volunteers from Southern Ohio who help with various disasters.
